Women make up less than a quarter of the practicing architects and few of those are even licensed. As I am a woman currently studying architecture at a university, I had to ask why so few women enter in the field when the ratio of male to female architecture students is nearly equal. The most typical theory is that women leave their professional career in architecture to raise a family, but it must go beyond that. Statistics show that there are actually slightly more women than men professionals and that many women are able to balance a career and family life. This website contains theories and sources that I have found on this peculiar subject through research I have conducted as well as my analysis
